This is a selection of photos from a visit to Nan Nuo Shan during the 2008 Tea Festival. Some old tea trees. The second and third pictures are the 'King of Tea Trees', said to be about 800 years old. There are actually several trees in the vicinity which are of a similar age. The following two pictures show a typical tea wok - a single bowl and pipe on a brick oven. Wood is put in from the back. The wok is set at an angle to facilitate tea frying and the front wall of the oven slants out slightly to give the person frying tea better leverage; by standing with their toes against the base of the oven, they can lean well over the wok to get maximum reach.
